The Changes in Air Conditioning

The Changes in Air Conditioning

The way HVACs are cooled has changed; here’s how that impacts you.

If you’re like the hundreds of people I know, you may be worried about the phasing out of R-22 Freon. The removal of R-22 Freon from the market is a huge deal because now air conditioners will have to use the safer R-410A refrigerant, which helps the environment. However, in the process, it could harm your pocketbook because the new refrigerant is more expensive. Thankfully, the price is falling because we’re using so much more of it.

Every new HVAC system will use R-410A and be higher pressure, and it will help the air conditioner work better and quieter. If you have a unit built before around 2010, it may still be using R-22, which is a tough spot to be in right now. In most cases, you’ll have to buy a new HVAC unit. We work with the top service techs for HVAC systems, so if you find out you need to replace it, give us a call and we’ll hook you up with them and find you the best price.

If you have any questions about these changes in air conditioners or concerning real estate in general, reach out to us via phone or email. We would love to be your home maintenance and real estate resource.
